To keep things simple we have designated three categories of chicken growth rate; fast, which is a five pound chicken in less than 50 days on a normal ration, medium, which is 70 to 100 days of age, and slow, which is 100 to 120 days old. An example of a fast growth chicken would be a white commercial broiler while a slow growth would be a Poulet de Bresse.
